Endangered animals in Indonesia.
Java Rhinoceros- Critically endangered
Is the second of the top 10 endangered animal in Asia. It’s already extinct in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Peninsular Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand It have been hunted near to extinction from 19century to 20century. They only exist in two areas right now. There are now less than 100 of them. About 40 to 60 of them is in Indonesia and there are 6 of them in Vietnam. No breeding have been observed in recent years. It’s possible that Java Rhinoceros who survived is too old or all have same gender.
Tiger- Critically endangered
Is the 6th of the top 10 endangered animal in Asia. It’s already extinct in Afghanistan, Indonesia only in Bali and Java, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Singapore, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. 93% of the tigers Over the last 100 years tigers have been disappeared. The current wild population of all tigers are endangered and some of them is being critically endangered. In a worldwide all of the population of the tigers are only 3000 to 5000. Tigers need big space of forest to live on. But due to deforestation for farming and woods, the territories of tigers have been reduced. They also got killed by the farmers. And tiger parts from those kills often end to the black markets.
Lar Gibbon- Critically endangered.
Is the 4th top endangered animal in Asia. It’s possibly extinct in China. Lots of Gibbon species are already endangered, even though the threat caused by deforestation is on decline. These animals are still being hunted for their meats. They are also getting captured in large number for pet trading, even in protected areas.
Orang-utan- Critically endangered.
The major threats have been in the past, people capture them for the pet and zoo trade, especially they captured the young ones, they usually involved killing the mother and also habitat loss, palm oil plantations, logging.
Sumatra flying squirrel- critically endangered.
The biggest threat is the habitat loss, due to urbanization. It is believed that population of these squirrels have been critically reached a dangerous low level. The population is not suitable for breeding.
